Jarrad Ricketts has garnered a vast fan base with the release of hit singles ‘Take Me To Your Heart’ and ‘New Life’, both which are included on Rickett’s debut album ‘Break The Rules’. The latest single ‘Thinking Bout’ is already stirring excitement among radio stations across SA.
Ricketts is excited for fans to hear the new single and explains what everyone can expect, saying: “My single ‘Thinking Bout’ is a fresh and exciting summer anthem for all those music lovers who enjoy a bit of nostalgia, and giving you throwback Thursday vibes every day of the week, coupled with feel good catchy lyrics and a bassline that will get your feet tapping. It was written and recorded as a tribute to the “New Jack Swing” era of the early and mid 90s POP/RnB scene, so I really hope you all enjoy my latest audio feast!”
Along with the release of the single, fans can now pre-order Jarrad Rickett’s debut album ‘Break The Rules’ which is due for release on Friday 28 September. Ricketts cannot wait! “My album ‘Break The Rules’ has been such an exciting project to create, and I am so excited that soon all 14 songs are going to be available for all of you to enjoy! What excites me most is that there is a song for everyone, whether you’re into slow jams, or like to have your own fun carpool Karaoke session …you’ll find the sound to match your mood. Fans can expect a really fun listening experience embarking on my music journey, listening to all the sounds I was influenced by growing up.”
Ricketts grew up on the Cape Flats in Athlone, and it was the arts that gave him a sense of direction that lead him to write and record his own music. Without any formal training in the arts, his persistence and drive steered him into pursuing his music career which opened up opportunities for him to perform in countries such as Spain, Finland and Sweden.
Most recently, Ricketts had the privilege of performing the British National Anthem “God Save The Queen” in front of 40 000 people at Newlands Rugby Stadium for the South Africa vs England rugby match. His performance was televised to over 150 countries internationally, an incredibly moment for this young singer.
With so much achieved already, the best is yet to come – the release of a brilliant debut album ‘Break The Rules’.
