Nick Murphy yesterday revealed his “Missing Link” Short Film, featuring music from his 2017 Missing Link EP which was co-written & directed by Murphy & Johann Rashid.
“2017 was a year of risk and exploration,” notes singer / producer Nick Murphy. “To say thank you, here is a film I made with my good friend Johann Rashid.”
Nick Murphy, formerly known as Chet Faker, just released the short film Missing Link, co-written and directed by Murphy and Australian filmmaker / musician Johann Rashid. The eight & a half-minute film features music from Murphy’s 2017 Missing Link EP, including ‘Your Time,’ his collaboration with KAYTRANADA.
Murphy released his Missing Link EP last May—his first release since announcing that he’ll record and perform under his given name and step away from his Chet Faker moniker. The collection bridges the sonic shift between who he was as an artist and what’s next for him as Nick Murphy.
As Chet Faker, Murphy’s album Built on Glass received wide critical acclaim and the video for ‘Gold’ has received over 100 million views to-date. He performed the track on TV, and has played sold out headline shows and at major festivals across the globe.
Murphy will perform four nights in his native Australia with LCD Soundsystem next month, as well as shows in New Zealand and at Phoenix, AZ’s M3F Festival.
Further European dates will be announced shortly.
