Femi Kuti has shared a new song and accompanying video from his upcoming album ‘Stop The Hate’ – out Feb 5 via Partisan Records. “As We Struggle Everyday” speaks truth to power behind an infectious and driving groove.
Femi says of the track: “As we struggle everyday is to do with how hard people work everyday to make ends meet and still go to vote corrupt politicians into power who are meant to be in jail ”
‘Stop The Hate’ is one half of a two-album package Femi is releasing alongside his son Made Kuti, called ‘Legacy +’. Made’s album is titled ‘For(e)ward,’ and is also out Feb 5. Both albums are steeped in the tradition of Afrobeat invented by Fela Kuti (Femi’s father, and Made’s grandfather), but each also brings their own unique vision and sound .
‘Stop The Hate’ honors Fela in a traditionally fun, sharply political, and affirming way. Meanwhile ‘For(e)ward’ is a modern and progressive freedom manifesto, pushing boundaries of the subgenre even further. Made also performs every instrument on his album!
