SA’s talented international singing export, Oshri, brings a tranquil festive feel to December with his rendition of ‘O Come, O Come, Emmanuel’ – set for release on Friday December 18th through Gallo Record Company.
“The reason why I chose to cover this song is because it sounded like a prayer and it captured my ear from the first note. There are 5 different verses but we chose to go with the one we felt fits with what’s going on in the world today. (RE: sec verse) ‘In one the heart of all mankind’ the world needs unity now more than ever, so hopefully people can feel a sense of togetherness when listing to the song,” explains Oshri on why he choice this particular song.
‘O come, O come, Emmanuel’, originally written in Latin (“Veni, veni, Emmanuel”) and later translated to English in 1851, is a Christian hymn for Advent and Christmas. This glorious hymn calls upon various divine bodies to give wisdom, salvation, victory, and safety, among other requests. It’s a dark and delicate carol which Oshri has given a hauntingly beautiful feel to with his sultry vocal and signature sound.
